Day 67: Taking Berlin by Storm

Check out my spread! This is how we ate, every morning in Berlin.

Look at their happy faces :) What a good way to start each day, no? Oh, I should also note that we all went back for seconds...

After our massive breakfast, we decided to kill two birds with one stone: walk off our meal and check out the East Side Gallery. It was sunny but the wind certainly sent chills through our bodies. It was a nice walk, along the wall, taking in all art work.

I didn't know what to make of some of them, though...like the one above. I did notice, however, that the banana seemed to be a recurring theme. I don't know what its significance is.

I don't know why I find this little Trabant so interesting. Apparently, this car was perceived as a joke because it was more of a nuisance than a convenience. I remember reading something about the first car being made of cardboard and other materials, which resulted in the car melting, when it rained. Oh, there's also a joke about increasing the value of the car by throwing a banana in the back seat.

So, I looked up the significance of bananas, and apparently, they were mostly available to West Germany but not so much in East Germany.

The Reichstag dome. We each had an audio guide informing us of surrounding landmarks and their history, as we spiraled up the dome.
